Most universities accept students as young as 17 years old. But, for example, at the University of Nebraska Lincoln you can enroll from the age of 20 (although there are few such institutions). So the choice is almost unlimited – from Harvard and other Ivy League universities to small colleges in small towns.
Several thousand U.S. institutions now educate almost half a million international students. The most popular fields of study, which promise an excellent future income: architecture, law, medicine and psychology.
College or University?
In the United States, a bachelor’s degree can be earned at both college and university. Check the list of U.S. universities and colleges, looking at the programs, rankings, facilities, and orientation depending on whether you are more interested in the theory, practice, or scholarship of the institution. The rankings are also relative: A college or university may rank quite low but offer a strong program of study that appeals to you.
Costs
The approximate cost of tuition, housing, and dining while you are at college is $8,500 a year, and at university $15,000. The top destinations will cost more. The price depends very much on the specialization and prestige of the educational institution.
Some universities have more opportunities to offer special conditions for international students. All institutions gladly give grants and scholarships to athletes, you can count on other types of assistance: work on campus, loans, etc. Any student who performs well at the end of a semester or a year of study can expect a substantial discount, and even a completely free education in the future.
Scholarships for International Students in the United States
Academic Scholarships are for students with high grades. The conditions vary from institution to institution.

What does the choice of state affect?
A student will spend several years in a new place, so personal preferences (climate, social, etc.) should be taken into account. State and city choices also affect the cost of housing and the line of graduates that will line up for jobs after graduation in metropolitan areas, or conversely, the lack of job offers in smaller cities.
