Greetings everyone! My name is Nancy Lowell – I am a doctoral candidate and a member of the admissions committee at one of the universities in our country. This blog of mine is about higher education in the United States, I talk about how to get a degree, what universities are like, and many other specifics.
If you look at any academic ranking, you will see that almost all of the top 50 universities in the world are occupied by US universities. This should settle the question once and for all: Why do people go to study in America? Count the number of living Nobel laureates who teach at U.S. universities and the desire to ask this question will fall away for a second time!
In general, people who want to get a higher education in the U.S. do not need to be “agitated” to do so at all! They know exactly what country they want to study in!
Higher education is divided into Undergraduate and Postgraduate (or just Graduate).
After graduation from high school (secondary school) children go to universities in Undergraduate programs. These are either 2-year Associate Degree programs (U.S. colleges) or 4-year colleges and universities which lead to a Bachelor’s degree.
Your strategy for applying to a college or university is based on the program and institution you choose. Some need to apply at least six months before the beginning of the program (Intake), and some can be done in just a month and a half!
Knowing all the “pitfalls” of admission, the procedure may not seem complicated, but all universities have their own rules and procedures, and missing even a single moment can lead to a rejection of admission just for formal reasons! Let’s say the application form is not filled out correctly…
